Why This Exists
In the beginning, there was coffee. Quite a lot of it, actually, which is how the whole trouble started.
The founder of this game drinks coffee at a rate scientists have described as "statistically inadvisable," and every can of it left behind an empty tin. The tins accumulated the way empty tins do: quietly, patiently, and in far greater numbers than anyone had agreed to. By early summer there were exactly 42 of them, more or less. Readers of a certain persuasion will recognize 42 as the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything, and while nobody expected the Question to turn out to be "what should a man do with all these coffee cans," the universe rarely explains itself.
There were, broadly, three options. Option one was the trash, which was no fun at all and felt wasteful besides. Option two was some kind of museum of cans, which market research (asking one spouse) suggested would be poorly attended. Option three was to paint them a magnificent green, hide them around Little Rock one at a time with money inside, and let an entire city argue about where they were.
You are currently looking at option three.
So when you find The Can, understand that you are not just winning a gift card. You are participating in what is, as far as anyone can tell, the city's first competitive recycling program. The can gets a second life, you get the bragging rights, and nobody has to explain to the garbage man why a grown adult owns 42 empty coffee cans. Everybody wins. Especially you, if you get there first.
